Conducting experiments and building capacity at the intersection of culture and technology.

About Us

The rise of digital technology transformed the very meaning of art in ways we are only beginning to understand.

It also decimated the world’s creative middle class, replacing it with something vastly more precarious and uncertain – and that was before Covid 19 hit.

This is our context.

“Only connect the prose and the passion, and both will be exalted, and human love will be seen at its height. Live in fragments no longer.” -E. M. Forster, Howard’s End

We are a tiny foundation that does projects and builds connections at the intersection of culture, entrepreneurship, science and technology. We seek to ignite innovation and help makers and creators find new ways to succeed and contribute in challenging times.

Based in Southwestern Ontario, Canada, we are focused on our region, but we will work with anyone, anywhere, if the project makes sense. We’ve used the term microfoundation to describe what we are: a tiny organization led by its founders and taking an unapologetically personal, idiosyncratic approach to trying to do useful work.

Current project themes

The science of art and the art of science

We work to foster collaboration between artists and scientists in order to build bridges and unlock new ways of looking at the world and the challenges we face.

Cryptocurrency, blockchain and the arts

We are working to educate creators regarding the crypto space and to assist them in utilizing these exciting and sometimes daunting technologies to develop and share their work.

Creative enterprise incubation

Through various channels, including incubator-style workshop sessions and one-on-one conversations, we educate creators and makers in entrepreneurial approaches at the cutting edge of business and technology.

Cross-disciplinary network building

Through conversations, meetups and digital outreach we bring together likeminded people from our fields of focus in order to build new connections and inspire creative innovation.

Microgrants and commissioning

On an opportunity-oriented basis, we provide occasional small, targeted grants to creators and makers to help them to realise particular projects and address themes and topics that deserve attention.
